Our initial idea was to create perspective using ping pong balls until we chanced upon Michael Murphy’s works, In God We Trust. We decided to recreate the image of the Effiel Tower and the lady in the famous painting by George Seurat, “A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte”. Similar to the installation, we did for Constructivism, this is a collaboration within the Design Realisation majors. My group consists of Eleanor Hutchison, Nicholas Sanders and me.
Our theme was Stephen Sondheim’s musical, Sunday in the Park with George. We had to create an installation in the context of Paris in the 1880s.
This is a recreation of a modern concept of a Salon. A Salon in the 1880s of Paris is an art exhibition for artists to display their works.
